Three friends, a red phone box and Big Ben

Three friends on a city break, one overcast London afternoon. We started at the red phone box near Parliament Square, moved down to the river wall with the London Eye behind, then back up onto the bridge for Big Ben, and finished under the arches and on the steps by the water. Flat grey light, which is the kindest light there is for faces. This is the route we describe in full on our Big Ben photoshoot page.

Group sessions work like any other: we direct the whole way through, mix shots of all three with a few solo frames for each, and keep it moving so nobody stands around. One hour, four backdrops within a ten-minute walk.

The route, stop by stop

The red phone box near Parliament Square came first: one of you inside on the phone, one leaning on the door, one walking past, then all three together with Big Ben at the end of the street. Then down to the Victoria Embankment, where the river wall facing the London Eye is wide enough for three people to walk, sit and pose without crowding the frame.

Back on the bridge, each of the three had a few solo portraits against the railings with Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament behind. We finished in the stone arch under the bridge and on the river steps by the water.

How a group session works

Group sessions follow the same one-hour route as couples, with one difference: we plan the time so everyone gets photos of their own as well as the group ones. Coordinated colours help (here all three chose cream and white, which reads beautifully against grey stone), but matching is not required.

Friends’ sessions suit birthdays, hen weekends and city breaks, anywhere a few people want proof they were in London together.
