Our founders’ own session at Westminster

We photograph a few thousand couples and almost never end up in a photo ourselves, which is exactly the problem this whole site is about. So on a free morning in London we booked Natalia, our London photographer, and did the route we send everyone else on: Westminster Bridge, the river wall, the phone box, a change into a blue dress halfway through. This is the route we describe in full on our Big Ben photoshoot page.

It is also a good way to see the edit before you book: natural colour, real skin, nothing that dates in a year.

The route we send everyone else on

Westminster Bridge first, with Big Ben and Portcullis House behind. Then down to the river wall on the Victoria Embankment, where the London Eye fills the background across the Thames, for walking shots, a lift and a kiss. Halfway through, a change into a blue dress and a few frames at Parliament Square, right at the foot of Big Ben with red buses passing.

The last stop was the Embankment wall again, for a moment on one knee with the London Eye across the river. If you are planning a proposal, it is the spot we suggest most often: open, easy to find, and with a clear view for a photographer who needs to stay out of sight.

What it taught us

Being on the other side of the camera is a useful reminder. It feels awkward for the first five minutes, even for us. Then you stop thinking about it, as long as someone tells you where to go and what to do. That is why we direct the whole session and never leave anyone to “act natural”.

It also showed how much one small area gives you. Everything here is within a ten-minute walk, and the hour was enough for two outfits and four backdrops.
